About the Journal

Jurnal Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi (J-SIKOM) is a scientific journal published by the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences with the scope of communication science studies which focuses on accommodating scientific work resulting from research by communication science students within and outside the scope of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The scientific articles published in the J-Sikom Journal are a development of research carried out by communication science students, therefore J-sikom is present as a forum that facilitates communication science students throughout Indonesia to publish the results of their research in the field of communication. It is hoped that this journal will not only be a forum for student publications, but will highlight the useful results of student work, and can contribute to the development of communication science and future research by students and communication practitioners. This journal will be published twice a year, namely in May and November.

The publication of J-SIKOM Journal Vol. 6 No. 1 consists of 15 scholarly articles contributed by authors from the Communication Studies Programs at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, and the Vocational School of IPB University, Bogor. This issue presents a rich and diverse collection of scientific articles, primarily focusing on communication studies within various social and cultural contexts. The journal offers in-depth analyses of cultural representations and social values reflected in popular media such as Korean dramas, local films, traditional songs, and anime.

Moreover, the journal highlights digital communication strategies and the utilization of social media, particularly Instagram, as an effective tool for promotion, public communication, and enhancing audience interaction.

In addition, this issue explores organizational and interpersonal communication aspects within workplace environments, providing insights into the effectiveness of instruction delivery and interpersonal relationships in companies. Semiotic studies and interpretations of moral messages in popular media are also significant parts of this journal, illustrating how social and cultural values can be understood and communicated through various media forms.

Overall, this journal is highly relevant for academics, communication practitioners, and students who wish to deepen their understanding of contemporary communication dynamics through a multidisciplinary approach. The publication not only contributes theoretically but also offers practical perspectives applicable to modern communication practices at both local and global levels.
