About the Journal

Jurnal Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi (J-SIKOM) is a scientific journal published by the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences with the scope of communication science studies which focuses on accommodating scientific work resulting from research by communication science students within and outside the scope of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The scientific articles published in the J-Sikom Journal are a development of research carried out by communication science students, therefore J-sikom is present as a forum that facilitates communication science students throughout Indonesia to publish the results of their research in the field of communication. It is hoped that this journal will not only be a forum for student publications, but will highlight the useful results of student work, and can contribute to the development of communication science and future research by students and communication practitioners. This journal will be published twice a year, namely in May and November.

Journal of Bachelor of Communication Science (J-SIKOM) Volume 6 Number 2, October 2025, is the latest edition published by the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. This edition contains scientific works from various universities in Indonesia, such as Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu, Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta, Universitas Pendidikan Nasional, Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan, Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika, Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Sekolah Vokasi IPB University,  Universitas Malikussaleh, Universitas Muhammadiyah Karanganyar, Universitas Riau , and other universities. This cross-institutional collaboration demonstrates a strong academic spirit in enriching communication studies through diverse perspectives, both theoretically and methodologically.

With the overarching theme "Communication, Ethics, and Social Representation in the Digital Age," this edition highlights the role of communication in shaping social awareness, strengthening ethical values, and critiquing media practices amidst technological developments. Articles in this edition examine key issues such as the role of YouTube's "Curhat Bang by Denny Sumargo" in social justice advocacy, music as a medium for social criticism, and the application of the Journalistic Code of Ethics on the news portal Konteks.co.id. Furthermore, several studies analyze media framing of public issues such as the "Dark Indonesia" demonstration and the emergency hashtag on Kompas.com, as well as the representation of neurodivergent individuals in the film Aku Jati, Aku Asperger.

Overall, this issue of J-SIKOM Vol. 6 No. 2, October 2025, represents the diversity of contemporary communication studies, encompassing media, ethics, culture, and psychosocial aspects. Through empirical and reflective research, this journal affirms its commitment to being a platform for scholarly dissemination that is relevant, innovative, and contributive to the development of communication science in Indonesia.
