About the Journal

Jurnal Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi (J-SIKOM) is a scholarly journal published by the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. The journal serves as a platform for the dissemination of research findings, conceptual papers, literature reviews, and scientific developments in the field of communication studies conducted by students, academics, researchers, and practitioners from various institutions.

J-SIKOM focuses on publishing scholarly articles related to various areas of communication studies, including digital communication, social media, marketing communication, public relations, organizational communication, interpersonal communication, mass communication, political communication, cultural communication, journalism, broadcasting, digital literacy, media semiotics, development communication, and contemporary communication issues in society.

J-SIKOM is published biannually, in May and November. All submitted manuscripts undergo an editorial screening and peer-review process to ensure academic quality, scientific novelty, and contribution to the advancement of communication studies.

Volume 7, Number 1 of the Scientific Journal of Communication Studies (J-SIKOM) presents a variety of cutting-edge studies in the field of communication science that reflect the dynamics of digital media, popular culture, and contemporary communication practices in Indonesia. This edition features articles using quantitative, qualitative, and systematic literature reviews. They explore strategic issues such as visual communication on social media, digital expression through video editing applications, and the role of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube in shaping audience behavior, perceptions, and information needs.

Furthermore, this edition explores marketing communications, public relations, and corporate social responsibility within organizational and industrial contexts, including analyses of consumer loyalty, corporate communication strategies, and institutional image. Critical perspectives are also presented through semiotic analyses of advertisements and musical works, enriching understanding of meaning, symbols, and representation in popular culture.

This edition, focusing not only on digital media, also includes studies on interpersonal communication, leadership, and social dynamics such as cultural adaptation, the spiral of silence on social media, and media framing in news reporting. With the diversity of themes, J-SIKOM Volume 7 Number 1 is expected to be a relevant scientific contribution to the development of communication studies, especially in understanding the transformation of communication in the digital era and its implications for society.
