This study aims to understand the role of interpersonal communication in maintaining long-distance relationships between couples. This study utilized social penetration theory and qualitative methodology, with five informants selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that communication between couples plays a crucial role in maintaining long-distance relationships and helps couples remain engaged. Conflict becomes a necessary dynamic for strengthening bonds. Based on social penetration theory, the formation and dissolution of interpersonal bonds result from adjustments or relationship adjustments that occur during conflict. To reach a more serious stage of a relationship, couples must be able to resolve conflict, even though it is part of the relationship development process.
