ARTICLE WITHDRAWAL AND CORRECTION POLICY
ARTICLE RETRACTION AND CORRECTION POLICY
Jurnal Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi (J-SIKOM) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, scientific transparency, and publication quality. If errors, ethical violations, or information affecting the validity of a published article are identified, the journal reserves the right to issue corrections, clarifications, expressions of concern, or article retractions in accordance with the severity of the issue.
Purpose of the Policy
This policy aims to ensure that all articles published in J-SIKOM remain accurate, reliable, and compliant with accepted standards of scholarly publishing and publication ethics.
Article Corrections
Corrections may be issued when errors are identified that do not significantly affect the validity, integrity, or overall conclusions of the research but require amendment to maintain the accuracy of the scholarly record.
- Errors in author names, affiliations, or correspondence details.
- Errors in data presentation, tables, figures, or references that do not alter the study’s conclusions.
- Typographical, formatting, or metadata errors.
- Additional information necessary to clarify the content of the article.
All corrections will be published transparently and linked to the original article to ensure that readers are informed of the changes made.
Expression of Concern
The Editor may issue an Expression of Concern when there is evidence suggesting potential ethical misconduct, data inaccuracies, or other serious concerns, but the available information is insufficient to warrant an immediate correction or retraction.
An Expression of Concern serves to alert readers that the article is under investigation and that the validity of certain aspects of the work may be in question.
Article Retraction
An article may be retracted if serious ethical violations or substantial errors are identified that render the findings or conclusions unreliable.
Retraction may be considered under the following circumstances:
- Plagiarism or unauthorized use of another person's work.
- Data fabrication, data falsification, or manipulation of research results.
- Duplicate publication or redundant publication.
- Copyright infringement or violation of intellectual property rights.
- Major methodological errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions.
- Violations of research ethics involving participants, respondents, or informants.
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect the interpretation of the research.
Retraction Procedures
- The Editor receives a complaint or identifies evidence of potential misconduct.
- An investigation is conducted, including requests for clarification from the author(s).
- The Editor may consult reviewers, editorial board members, or the author’s institution when necessary.
- A decision regarding correction, expression of concern, or retraction is made based on the available evidence.
- Authors will be given an opportunity to respond before a final decision is reached.
Status of Retracted Articles
Retracted articles will not be removed from the journal website in order to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record. Instead, the article will remain accessible and clearly marked as "Retracted Article", accompanied by an official retraction notice explaining the reasons for the retraction.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for managing correction and retraction procedures fairly, transparently, objectively, and in accordance with recognized publication ethics guidelines.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are required to promptly notify the Editor if they discover significant errors in their published work. Authors must cooperate fully with the journal during any investigation, correction, or retraction process.
Final Statement
J-SIKOM is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record through transparent and responsible correction and retraction procedures. This policy is implemented to maintain the quality, credibility, and trustworthiness of the research published in the journal and to uphold the highest standards of academic publishing.
