PLAGIARISM POLICY
Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi (J-SIKOM) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. Therefore, all submitted manuscripts must be original works and free from plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and any other form of academic misconduct.
All manuscripts submitted to J-SIKOM are subject to plagiarism screening before entering the peer-review process. Similarity checks are conducted using recognized plagiarism detection software to ensure the originality and authenticity of scholarly work.
Forms of Plagiarism Considered Unacceptable
- Copying part or all of another person's work without proper citation and acknowledgment.
- Using ideas, data, tables, figures, or research findings of others without appropriate attribution.
- Closely paraphrasing source material without adequate citation.
- Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of previously published work without proper disclosure.
- Duplicate publication or simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals.
- Using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content without appropriate verification, scholarly development, and full author responsibility.
Similarity Index
J-SIKOM recommends that submitted manuscripts maintain an overall similarity index of no more than 25%. However, editorial decisions are not based solely on similarity scores. Editors carefully evaluate the source and context of detected similarities, as legitimate quotations, references, and commonly used technical terms may contribute to similarity percentages without constituting plagiarism.
Editorial Actions
If plagiarism or unethical overlap is identified, the editorial team may take one or more of the following actions:
- Request revisions and proper citation corrections.
- Return the manuscript for improvement before peer review.
- Reject manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism.
- Retract published articles if ethical violations are discovered after publication.
- Notify the author's affiliated institution in cases of serious academic misconduct.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are fully responsible for the originality of their submitted work. By submitting a manuscript to J-SIKOM, authors confirm that the manuscript is their original work, has not been previously published, is not under consideration elsewhere, and appropriately acknowledges all sources used in the preparation of the article.
Statement
J-SIKOM supports honest, transparent, and responsible scholarly publishing practices. Any form of plagiarism is regarded as a serious violation of academic ethics and will be handled in accordance with established publication ethics guidelines.
