About the Journal

Jurnal Sarjana Ilmu Komunikasi (J-SIKOM) is a scholarly journal published by the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. The journal serves as a platform for the dissemination of research findings, conceptual papers, literature reviews, and scientific developments in the field of communication studies conducted by students, academics, researchers, and practitioners from various institutions.

J-SIKOM focuses on publishing scholarly articles related to various areas of communication studies, including digital communication, social media, marketing communication, public relations, organizational communication, interpersonal communication, mass communication, political communication, cultural communication, journalism, broadcasting, digital literacy, media semiotics, development communication, and contemporary communication issues in society.

J-SIKOM is published biannually, in May and November. All submitted manuscripts undergo an editorial screening and peer-review process to ensure academic quality, scientific novelty, and contribution to the advancement of communication studies.

Open Access Policy

J-SIKOM applies an Open Access Policy, allowing all published articles to be freely accessed, read, downloaded, and distributed by the public without any subscription or access fees. This policy supports the broad dissemination of scientific knowledge and encourages academic exchange at both national and international levels.

Peer Review Process

Each submitted manuscript is initially evaluated by the editorial team to ensure its relevance to the journal’s focus and scope and its compliance with the author guidelines. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are then reviewed by qualified peer reviewers. The final publication decision is made by the editor based on reviewers’ recommendations and the author's revisions.

Authors who publish with J-SIKOM retain the copyright of their work. By submitting and publishing their articles, authors grant the journal the right to publish, distribute, and archive the work in electronic form. Authors are fully responsible for the content of their published articles.

Publication Ethics

J-SIKOM is committed to maintaining academic integrity and adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics, including the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, or other unethical research practices will not be tolerated.

Plagiarism Screening Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the review process. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding the journal’s acceptable threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected at the editor’s discretion.

Privacy Statement

The names, email addresses, and other personal information entered on this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any third party.

Archiving and Digital Preservation

J-SIKOM supports the long-term preservation of scholarly content through digital archiving systems available within the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The journal encourages integration with archiving services such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS to ensure permanent access to published content.
