AN ANALYSIS OF THE ROLE OF LKS-LU PAYUNG BESUREK IN SOCIAL AND SPIRITUAL ASSISTANCE OF THE ELDERLY IN BENGKULU CITY
This research aims to find out the role of LKS-LU Payung Besurek in social and spiritual assistance to the elderly. Researcher used descriptive qualitative research method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation of informants who had been determined using purposive sampling techniques, namely supervisors, secretaries, social care, companions for elderly social rehabilitation meeting activities (elderly terrace), and elderly at LKS-LU Payung Besurek in Bengkulu City. Data analysis techniques use data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Meanwhile, to analyze the research results, researchers used role theory from Bruce J. Cohen, namely real roles (acted roles) and role strain.
The research result show that the role of LKS-LU Payung Besurek in social and spiritual assistance for the elderly is in accordance with its role. LKS-LU Payung Besurek provides social and spiritual assistance through a service advocacy program and fulfilling the basic needs of the elderly by meeting the needs of the elderly such as health checks, nutritional needs, daily needs, and assistive devices and then the elderly social rehabilitation program (elderly terrace) related to religious activities where the companion facilitates religious activities for the elderly, this is proven from the results of interviews that the elderly feel helped by the exsistence of LKSS-LU Payung Besurek, and this institution provides good response and service for the elderly. The obstacles faced by LKS-LU Payung Besurek in carrying out social and spiritual assistance for the elderly are the lack of Human Resources (HR) in providing assistance and the lack funds to meet the needs of the elderly. As a result of the theoretical analysis carried out, it is known that the real role of institutions that provide services and meet the needs of the elderly through social and spiritual assistance, role tensions arise between the elderly companion and conflicting parties due to incompatibility.
