Abstract

Pregnancy is the result of the meeting of sperm and egg cells. The physical changes experienced by women during pregnancy are related to several systems caused by the specific effects of hormones. These changes occur in preparation for fetal development, preparing the mother's body for childbirth, breast development for the formation or production of breast milk during the postpartum period. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of primigravida pregnant women about physiological changes in pregnancy before and after health education interventions. The research was design "one group pre-test & post-test. The population in this research is all pregnant women who meet the requirements for the test and the sample collection was used purposive sampling. The results showed were that the average value of knowledge of primigravida pregnant women before being given health education was 16.51 and the average value of knowledge of pregnant women after being given health education was 19.73. There is an influence of given health education to increase knowledge of physiological changes in primigravida pregnant women at the Palembang Harbor Hospital with p-value of 0.000. Suggestions for next researchers are to better understand the culture and character of respondents so that the process of carrying out interventions can be maximized.
