HUBUNGAN PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL DENGAN RISIKO PERILAKU SOSIAL NEGATIF PADA REMAJA DI SMP NEGERI 19 KOTA BENGKULU
Abstract
The rapid growth of social media affects adolescents' social behavior, especially in terms of interaction and social adaptation. This study aims to identify the relationship between social media use and the risk of negative social behavior among adolescents at SMP Negeri 19 Kota Bengkulu. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 75 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the SIPMS questionnaire and antisocial behavior scale, then analyzed with the chi-square test. The findings showed that most respondents (98.7%) had high social media usage, while 12.0% were at risk of negative social behavior. However, statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between social media intensity and the risk of negative social behavior (p = 0.120). Nevertheless, parental supervision and digital literacy education are essential to reduce potential negative impacts. It is recommended that schools, communities, and higher education institutions actively contribute to shaping adolescent behavior through educational and preventive approaches.
