EMPLOYEE COMPETENCE, MOTIVATION, AND PERFORMANCE: DOES WORK DISCIPLINE STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS?

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran disiplin kerja sebagai variabel moderating dalam pengaruh kompetensi dan motivasi terhadap kinerja pegawai. Studi ini dilakukan pada Pegawai Pemerintah dengan Perjanjian Kerja (PPPK) di Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah, Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kabupaten Banyuasin. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei, melibatkan 48 responden sebagai sampel penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner berbasis skala Likert dan dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak SmartPLS versi 3.2.9. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi dan motivasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap disiplin kerja maupun kinerja pegawai. Namun demikian, disiplin kerja tidak terbukti berperan secara signifikan sebagai variabel moderating dalam memperkuat pengaruh kompetensi dan motivasi terhadap kinerja pegawai. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pengaruh kompetensi dan motivasi terhadap kinerja pegawai cenderung bersifat langsung, tanpa dipengaruhi oleh tingkat disiplin kerja sebagai variabel pemoderasi. Penelitian ini memiliki keterbatasan karena hanya dilakukan pada satu instansi dengan jumlah responden yang relatif terbatas. Meskipun demikian, hasil penelitian ini tetap diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan kajian manajemen sumber daya manusia, khususnya dalam memahami batasan peran variabel moderating, serta menjadi bahan pertimbangan praktis bagi instansi pemerintah dalam merumuskan kebijakan peningkatan kinerja pegawai.
