Plagiarism Screening
Every manuscript submitted to Jurnal AVICENNA will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin or X Plagiarism Checker detection tools. The journal will immediately reject papers that indicate plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
Jurnal AVICENNA aims to ensure that all authors are careful and comply with international standards for academic integrity, particularly regarding plagiarism issues.
Definition and Scope of Plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs when an author takes ideas, information, or words from another source without proper credit to the source. Even if it occurs unintentionally, plagiarism remains a serious academic violation and is unacceptable in international academic publishing.
Citing Specific Information and Data
When authors study specific information (names, dates, places, statistical numbers, or other detailed information) from a particular source, a citation is required. This is only excused in cases of common knowledge, where data is available in more than five sources or constitutes general knowledge (e.g., the fact that Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world).
Citing Ideas or Concepts
When authors take ideas from other authors, a citation is required even if the author subsequently develops those ideas further (whether related to data interpretation, methodology, conclusions, or broad developments in the relevant scientific field). Authors are obliged to cite the original source of the idea, and in subsequent sentences, may explain their own developed ideas.
Use of Quotation Marks for Original Words
When authors take words from other authors, citations and quotation marks are strictly required. Whenever there are four or more consecutive words identical to a source text, authors are required to use quotation marks to indicate the use of those original words; merely including a citation is no longer sufficient.
Sanctions and Academic Integrity
Jurnal AVICENNA strongly upholds academic integrity. Editors have full rights to cancel acceptance (reject) papers proven to violate any of the standards established above.
