Complaints & Appeals

Complaints and Appeals Policy

Jurnal AVICENNA

1

Scope

AVICENNA accepts good-faith complaints and appeals regarding editorial decisions, peer review, publication ethics, journal policies, staff conduct, published content, procedural fairness, or other matters relating to the journal.

2

Editorial Appeals

An author may appeal if there is specific reason to believe that a material error, misunderstanding, procedural failure, or overlooked evidence has influenced the decision. An appeal is not a re-review simply because the author disagrees with the reviewers.

3

How to Submit

Complaints or appeal requests must be submitted through the journal's official contact channels, specifying the manuscript/article in question, briefly explaining the issue, providing relevant evidence, and stating the requested remedy.

4

Initial Assessment

The Editor-in-Chief or a designated independent editor will assess the matter. Anyone directly involved in the disputed decision or having a conflicting interest must not act as a judge in the case.

5

Appeal Review

The journal may review editorial records, reviewer reports, author responses, policies, and independent expert advice. The outcome may confirm the decision, modify it, request further review, or take other appropriate action.

6

Complaints Regarding the Editor-in-Chief

If the complaint concerns the Editor-in-Chief or cannot be handled independently within the journal, it must be forwarded to an appropriate independent representative of the publisher or institution.

7

Research Integrity Complaints

Allegations of plagiarism, fabrication, unethical research, authorship misuse, peer review manipulation, or other misconduct are handled based on the Research Ethics Misconduct policy.

8

Abusive or Bad-Faith Communication

AVICENNA may reject communications that are threatening, discriminatory, repetitive, or overtly abusive. Legitimate criticism and whistleblowing are not rejected simply because they are uncomfortable or critical.

9

Outcomes and Records

The journal communicates its results and, if necessary, the reasons behind them. Formal post-publication actions are publicly documented.
