Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Jurnal AVICENNA

1

General Principle

AI tools may assist with limited aspects of scholarly work, but they do not replace human responsibility for accuracy, originality, confidentiality, attribution, integrity, and editorial judgment.

2

AI Cannot Be an Author

AI systems, large language models, chatbots, or automated tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work or respond to integrity issues.

3

Author Disclosure Requirements

Authors are required to disclose the use of generative AI material or AI assistance tools in research, analysis, coding, image creation/manipulation, translation, or manuscript preparation. The statement must identify the known tool/version, purpose, and the extent of human verification performed. Routine spelling checks or basic grammar checks do not need to be disclosed unless they materially alter the content of the scholarly work.

4

Prohibited Use by Authors

AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, participants, citations, references, results, images, or evidence; disguise plagiarism; or replace necessary ethical and scholarly oversight.

5

Editors

Editors must not delegate editorial decisions to AI and must not upload confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, author identities, or unpublished data to public or unapproved generative AI systems. Limited administrative use is only acceptable if confidentiality and human oversight are maintained.

6

Reviewers

Reviewers are prohibited from using generative AI tools to evaluate, summarize, analyze, or draft substantive peer review reports for confidential manuscripts. Manuscript contents, images, data, supplementary files, and confidential correspondence must not be uploaded to AI systems.

7

Inappropriate or Undisclosed AI Use

Depending on the severity, AVICENNA may request clarification, corrections, reject manuscripts, issue post-publication notices, or investigate the matter as a research integrity issue.
