Abstract

ABSTRACT

Exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Pasar Ikan Puskesmas in Bengkulu City is still low, based on data from the Bengkulu City health officials, in 2017 the achievements were obtained only 41.1% and increased in 2018 to 64.0%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the low level of exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0-6 months in the working area of Pasar Ikan Puskesmas, Bengkulu City.This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique is by conducting in-depth interviews with 12 informants and conducting research documentation. This research was conducted in the working area of Pasar Ikan Puskesmas Bengkulu City from February 25, 2020, to March 25, 2020.The results showed that maternal predisposing factors already had sufficient knowledge, but mother's busy and insufficient mother's milk production, this is the cause of failure to provide the exclusive breastfeeding, as well as mothers who are less painstaking in collecting breast milk so that at work the children are only given formula milk. Enabling Factors in the form of health workers have provided and carried out their roles, such as by conducting socialization, consultation on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for babies, but it is still rare to provide counseling for breastfeeding mothers. Reinforcing Factors in the form of husband and family support are needed to motivate mothers to provide exclusive breastfeeding.The conclusion of this study is that the cause of failure of exclusive breastfeeding in infants aged 0-6 months in the working area of Pasar Ikan Puskesmas, Bengkulu City is due to the work and business of mothers who are unable to exclusively breastfeed babies.It is recommended that the Pasar Ikan Puskesmas, Bengkulu City provide input such as socialization which is useful in providing exclusive breastfeeding programs, especially for working mothers.
