Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease, due to elevated blood sugar levels. Pancreatic cell dysfunction and insulin resistance are also contributing causes of DM. The risk factors that cause it can be classified into two categories, which are modifiable and non-modifiable. The purpose of the study was to determine the blood sugar levels of patients suffering from type 2 DM. Quantitative research with quasy experimental design, pre-test and post-test design was used in this study. The study involved 15 respondents. The results of the study showed that the administration of noni juice affects the decrease in blood sugar levels in a person with type 2 DM, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). The average result before giving 227.93 mg/dl, and after giving 193.47 mg/dl. This study suggested that DM patients may use herbal or non-pharmacological drugs to reduce blood sugar levels as an alternative therapy.
