PENGARUH PARENTAL HOLDING TERHADAP DISTRES ANAK SELAMA PROSEDUR INSERTION INTRA VENA (IV) DI RUANG RAWAT INAP ANAK RSUD Dr. M. YUNUS BENGKULU
Abstract
Parental holding is a therapy that can reduce distress experienced by children during intravenous (IV) insertion procedures by having the child sit on the parent's lap, facing the person holding them, with the child's back supported by the parent's hand. The goal of parental holding is to reduce distress in children during IV insertion procedures. Distress can be caused by several factors, such as fear of pain and fear of needles. Parental holding can reduce distress in children by providing a sense of security and comfort. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of parental holding on children's distress during the IV insertion procedure in the pediatric ward of RSUD Dr. M. Yunus Bengkulu. This research is quantitative, using a quasi-experimental approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sample size is 15 individuals. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods with the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed a significant effect of parental holding before and after on children's distress during the IV insertion procedure in the pediatric ward of RSUD Dr. M. Yunus Bengkulu, with a p-value for diastolic pressure of 0.000 (p<0.05). It is recommended that future researchers continue this study with a larger sample size and also apply parental holding to reduce distress in children during IV insertion procedures in hospital care.
