Abstract

Disaster is an event or series of events that threaten and disrupt people's lives and livelihoods caused by natural and or non-natural factors. Flood is an event when water inundates an area that is usually inundated with water for a certain period of time. The purpose of this research is to know the relationship between knowledge and preparedness attitude to face flood disaster in Bumi Mas Bentiring Housing, Bengkulu City. The research design used quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach with a population of 82 families and a sample of 33 families. The data analysis technique used univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of the univariate analysis stated that 33 people in the Bumi Mas Bentiring Housing Community had 21 people (63.6%) with sufficient knowledge and 12 people (36.4%) with good knowledge. The results of the analysis of the length of stay of 33 people who lived 1-3 years were 16 family heads (48.5%) and 4-6 years 17 families (51.5%). The results of the bivariate analysis of the chi square test were obtained from the value of x2=7.015 with a value of (p)=0.016<0.05 then there is a relationship between knowledge and preparedness attitudes (p)=0.007<0.05 then there is a relationship between length of stay with preparedness attitude. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the higher the level of community knowledge, the better the level of flood preparedness.
