About the Journal
Jurnal Humas dan Media Kontemporer is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Communication Studies Programme, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. This journal serves as a platform for disseminating research findings, conceptual studies, case studies, and critical analyses that contribute to the development of communication studies, public relations, media, and various contemporary communication phenomena.
Since its first publication in 2020, MADIA has been committed to promoting the development of knowledge and communication practices relevant to the dynamics of digital society, media transformation, communication culture, and developments in information and communication technology. This journal is intended for academics, researchers, practitioners, students, and policymakers with an interest in communication and media studies.

Open Access Policy
MADIA implements an Open Access policy, which allows all articles to be accessed, read, downloaded, and utilised freely by the public without any access fees. The journal believes that open access to research results will accelerate the exchange of knowledge, enhance the visibility of scholarly work, and broaden the academic and social impact of published research.
Peer Review Process
Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the editor to ensure alignment with the journal’s focus and scope. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are subsequently reviewed by competent reviewers in the relevant academic field through a peer review process. Publication decisions are based on scientific quality, originality, contribution to the development of communication studies, and adherence to publication ethics.
Publication Ethics
MADIA upholds academic integrity and adheres to the principles of scientific publication ethics. Authors, editors, and reviewers are required to maintain objectivity, transparency, and the confidentiality of the review process, whilst avoiding all forms of plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and conflicts of interest.
Copyright and Licensing
Copyright of the article remains with the author. By publishing an article in MADIA, the author grants the journal the right to publish, distribute and archive the article in electronic form. Any reuse of the article must include appropriate attribution to the author and the journal.
Privacy Policy
Names, email addresses, and personal information entered into the journal’s system will be used solely for the purposes of managing scientific publication. This information will not be used for any other purpose nor disclosed to third parties without the relevant consent.
Digital Archiving and Preservation
MADIA supports long-term digital preservation to ensure the availability and sustainability of access to published articles. The digital archiving system is implemented via the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and can be enhanced through integration with digital preservation systems such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) or CLOCKSS to safeguard the security and sustainability of the scientific archive.
Journal History
MADIA is published by the Communication Studies Programme at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu as a scientific publication focusing on the study of public relations, media, and contemporary communication. In line with developments in communication technology and digital media, the journal continues to expand its scope of study to accommodate various perspectives and research approaches relevant to today’s communication challenges.
