Abstract

Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of blood vessels. Hypertension is a condition in which blood vessels have persistently high blood pressure (systolic blood pressure 140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure 90 mmHg). This study aims to compare the elderly exercise and yoga exercise on blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension at the Tresna Werdha Social Institution, Bengkulu City. This research uses Quasy Experiment with Two Group Pre Test and Post Test design. A sample of 30 respondents used purposive sampling. The results showed that there was a decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before and after the elderly exercise was given with an average systolic of 143.00 mmHg to 132.73 mmHg, while diastolic blood pressure of 85.20 mmHg became 77.60 mmHg, and the average systolic blood pressure of yoga exercise was 136.73 mmHg to 127.20 mmHg. , while the diastolic 87.60 mmHg to 80.60 mmHg. The results of the independent t-test statistical test obtained a systolic p-value of 0.058 and a diastolic of 0.069, meaning that there was no significant comparison between elderly exercise and yoga for reducing blood pressure. The conclusion is that there is no comparison between elderly exercise and yoga on decreasing systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Suggestions for further researchers are expected to be used as further research with more respondents and can combine with other interventions.
