Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis stereotip-stereotip yang terkandung dalam film submission karya sutradara Theo van Gogh dan Aayan Hirsi Ali menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Film ini merupakan salah satu film yang pada ,masanya membuat kontroversial dan kegeraman bagi umat Islam sedunia. Film ini mengandung banyak unsur-unsur mengkritisi Islam tanpa dasar yang jelas untuk itu peneliti melakukan penelitian ini. Dalam film ini terlihat banyaknya prasangka –prasangka yang negatif terhadap Islam yang kita anggap sebagai stereotip. Stereotip sendiri memiliki arti yakni pelabelan negatif terhadap suatu ras, kaum, agama dan lain-lain tanpa memperhatikan orang tersebut diuntungkan ataupun dirugikan, sehingga menimbulkan suatu mitos dan permasalahan dalam masyarakat dan sampai sekarang banyaknya stereotip-stereotip yang tersebar luas di masyarakat salah satunya lewat film ini terhadap citra wanita dalam Islam yang dianalisis menggunkan analisis semiotika sehingga didapatkan makna-makna maupun simbol-simbol yang mengandung stereotip dalam film submission ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat 6 scene yang dianalisis menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes didapatkan hasil yaitu dalam 6 scene tersebut secara makna konotasi dan denotasi makna maupun simbol film ini semua mengandung stereotip wanita muslimah sedangkan secara makna mitos terdapat 4 stereotip wanita muslimah, 1 stereotip perempuan, dan 1 yang bukan stereotip.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the stereotypes contained in film submission by director Theo van Gogh and Aayan Hirsi Ali using Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis. Stereotypes have the meaning of negative labeling of race, In this film controversion in the world and muslim. this film contains many elements criticizing Islam. Without a clear bisnis, the researcher conducted this research. In this film,there are many negative prejudices againsts Islam which we consider as stereotypes. ethnicity, religion and others without regard to the person being benefited or harmed, giving rise to myths and problems in society. Until now there are many stereotypes widespread in society, one of which is through this film against the image women in Islam that was analyzed using semiotic analysis so that obtained the meanings and symbols containing the stereotypes. Based on the results of the study, there were 6 scenes which were analyzed using Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, the results showed that in these 6 scenes, in terms of connotation and denotation, the meaning and symbols of this film all contain stereotypes of muslim women, while in terms of mytical meaning, there are 4 stereoypes of muslim women, I stereotype of women, I which is not the stereotype.
