ANALISIS KEUNGGULAN KOMPARATIF DAN PENTINGNYA LABEL HALAL PADA PRODUK PALM OIL DI PERDAGANGAN INTERNASIONAL

This research aims to determine the comparative advantage and importance of halal labels on palm oil products in international trade. The existence of halal certification institutions throughout the world shows that halal issues are becoming a global trend and are in demand because of their safety. This research uses a library methodology (Library Research), namely reviewing literature and combining relevant topics that can be obtained through various library information methods such as books, journals, encyclopedias, articles, magazines and other documents without conducting research in the field. The results of this research found that there are six comparative advantages of palm oil products, including Indonesia as the largest producer, lower production costs compared to other countries, having large areas of land, including being a multi-purpose product, having the opportunity to be more visible on the global market and the opportunity to practice sustainable agriculture. Apart from that, the presence of a halal label in the international market is found to be important because the halal label is useful for increasing consumer confidence, halal labeled products are easier to enter the international market with quite strict regulations, the halal label is also a differentiator from competing products and opens up wider export opportunities . The study findings found that the comparative advantage of palm oil products, especially Indonesia, is one of the main commodities that is able to compete in foreign markets. Coupled with the push for halal certification for palm oil which is supported by the government, this is a big opportunity for Indonesia as an agricultural and maritime country and a country with a majority Muslim population
