Abstract

Asthma is a condition when the airways narrow due to hyperactivity to certain stimuli. One of the management of asthmatic patients is to perform non-pharmacological therapy, namely Respiratory Muscle Stretching (RMS) and Pursed Lip Breathing (PLB) techniques. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of giving Respiratory Muscles Stretching and Pursed Lips Breathing techniques to increase oxygen saturation in asthmatic patients. The design of this study uses a Quasi Experiment model with a two group pre-post test design approach strategy. The sample in this study were 30 respondents who were divided into 2 groups and analyzed using the independent t test. The results of the independent t test got a significant value of 0.779, so there was no difference between the Respiratory Muscle Stretching technique and the Pursed Lip Breathing technique on increasing oxygen saturation in asthmatic patients. Conclusion, There is no significant difference between the administration of the Respiratory Muscle Stretching technique and the administration of the Pursed Lip Breathing technique to increase the amount of oxygen saturation in asthmatic patients. Suggestions, it is hoped that this research can be used as a source and reference for the development of further research.
