Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic progressive disease when the body is unable to carry out proper metabolic processes in carbohydrates, lipids and proteins so that it can cause hyperglycemia. DM sufferers need physical activity such as diabetic foot exercises because these exercises can improve the blood circulation process so that the process of delivering nutrients to the tissue is smoother, strengthens muscles and can reduce blood glucose levels. This study aims to determine the effect of diabetic foot exercise on reducing postprandial blood glucose levels in clients with type II diabetes. This study uses quantitative research with a Quasi Experimental research design in the form of a group pre-post test design with sampling using the Accidental Sampling technique. The sample in this study amounted to 15 respondents with the analysis used as Dependent t-test. Before being given diabetic foot exercises, the results of blood glucose in DM clients were in the high category with an average value of 221.2mg/dl and blood sugar levels after the posttest decreased with a value of 216.4 mg/dl. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of diabetic foot exercise on decreasing postprandial blood glucose levels with p value = 0.001. Suggestion, it is hoped that diabetic foot exercise can be used as a routine exercise for people with type II diabetes mellitus.
