Abstract

Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) is an acute respiratory disease characterized by symptoms of cough, runny nose, hoarseness, fever and mucus or mucus that lasts up to 14 days. This study aims to determine the Comparison of Eucalyptus Oil Steam Inhalation Therapy and Peppermint Essential Oil Steam Inhalation Therapy on Reducing Breathing Patterns with URTI in the Work Area of ​​the West Lingkar Health Center, Bengkulu City. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest and posttest design. The results showed that there was a decrease in breathing patterns before and after being given eucalyptus oil inhalation therapy with an average of 25.73 to 21.53, while for peppermint essential oil steam inhalation therapy the average was 25.87 to 20.80. The results of the independent t-test statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.063, meaning that there was no significant comparison between Eucalyptus Oil Steam Inhalation Therapy and Peppermint Essential Oil Steam Inhalation Therapy to Improve the Breathing Pattern of Patients with URTI in the Work Area of ​​the West Lingkar Health Center, Bengkulu City. Suggestions for the Lingkar Barat Health Center in Bengkulu City can provide education to the public about eucalyptus oil vapor inhalation therapy and peppermint essential oil to reduce the incidence of URTI.
