Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a serious chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin (a hormone that regulates blood sugar, or glucose), or when the body cannot use insulin effectively. Diabetes is an important public health problem, the number of cases and prevalence of diabetes has continued to increase over the last few decades. The purpose of the study is to know the relationship between self-acceptance and the stages of loss in type 2 DM patients at the Lingkar Timur Health Center. The Design of this research is a quantitative observational analytic study using a cross sectional approach. The results of the analysis on the response obtained from 53 samples can be seen that from 16 Type 2 DM patients with moderate self-acceptance there are 10 people with moderate loss stage and 6 people with low loss stage, while from 37 Type 2 DM patients with high self-acceptance there are 9 people with moderate loss stage and 28 people with low loss stage at the Lingkar Timur Health Center. Based on the results of the Chi-Square (Continuity Correction) statistical test, the value x2 = 5.516 with the value of Asymp.sig(P) = 0.019 P <0.05 means significant. The conclusion of the study is that there is a significant relationship between self-acceptance and the stages of loss in Type 2 DM patients at the Lingkar Timur Health Center.
